Volkswagen ID.3

The ID.3 is built on VW’s dedicated MEB platform. The 2026 model features a more sculpted front hood (removing the black strip from the original design) and improved aerodynamics. It remains a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) focused car, providing a sporty feel that is rare in the compact hatchback segment.

Pro Performance (RWD): Produces 204 hp and 310 Nm of torque. This is the most common version in the UAE. GTX (Performance): New for the current lineup, producing up to 326 hp and 545 Nm of torque. Acceleration: Pro: 0–100 km/h in 7.4 seconds. GTX: 0–100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. Driving Dynamics: Because the motor is in the back and the battery is in the floor, it has a 50:50 weight distribution. Its turning circle is just 10.2 meters, making it incredibly easy to U-turn on narrow city streets.

Battery Options: 58 kWh (Pro): ~430 km WLTP range. 77 kWh (Pro S / GTX): Up to 560 km WLTP range. UAE Context: Expect roughly 320 km (58 kWh) to 440 km (77 kWh) of real-world range during the summer months with the AC set to "Low." Charging: Supports 120 kW to 175 kW DC fast charging (depending on battery size). You can go from 10% to 80% in about 28–30 minutes. A 11 kW AC home charger will fully charge the car in about 6 to 8 hours.

Upgraded Materials: Responding to feedback, VW replaced the hard plastics of the first-gen ID.3 with soft-touch, foamed materials on the dashboard and door trims. Infotainment: Features a new 12.9-inch central display. Crucially, the touch sliders for volume and temperature are now backlit, making them usable at night in the UAE. Seating: Features "ErgoActive" seats with electric adjustment, massage functions, and thigh support—ideal for the commute between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Space: Because there is no engine tunnel, the floor is completely flat, giving rear passengers more legroom than a traditional petrol hatchback.

Travel Assist: Combines Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist. In the 2026 model, it uses "Swarm Data" to stay centered even on roads with poor markings. Park Assist Plus: The car can "memorize" a parking maneuver. If you have a tricky parking spot at home, the car can learn to perform the final 50 meters of the park automatically. Augmented Reality HUD: Projects navigation arrows onto the windshield so they appear to be floating on the road exactly where you need to turn.

Price: While not officially sold through Al Nabooda or Ali & Sons yet, the ID.3 is widely available through major "New Energy" importers. Prices typically range from AED 95,000 to AED 130,000. Warranty: Importers usually offer a 3-to-5 year third-party warranty, with specific 8-year coverage for the battery. Service: Requires very little maintenance; the first major inspection is usually scheduled after two years with no mileage limit.
