2025 Lucid Air Review UAE
Overview
The 2025 Lucid Air is a five-seat luxury electric sedan available in the UAE from AED 313,635 through Lucid's direct sales model at City Walk, Dubai. Seven configurations span from the 430 hp rear-wheel-drive Pure to the 1,234 hp tri-motor Sapphire. The 924-volt architecture enables DC fast charging at up to 300 kW CCS2, adding approximately 400 km of range in 20 minutes. The Grand Touring Performance variant delivers a class-leading 839 km WLTP range from its 118 kWh battery.
For executive buyers, early EV adopters, and technology enthusiasts seeking the longest-range luxury sedan available in the UAE, the Lucid Air is a compelling proposition. Those requiring an established UAE service network or strong resale certainty should weigh alternatives from Mercedes-Benz or Porsche.
Executive long-distance commuters
Technology-focused early adopters
Villa residents with home charging
Buyers prioritising maximum EV range
Buyers requiring a proven UAE resale track record
Families needing SUV practicality or third-row seating
Budget-conscious first-time EV buyers
The Lucid Air is a purpose-built luxury electric sedan from the Silicon Valley-based manufacturer, now sold directly to UAE customers through the Lucid Studio at City Walk, Dubai. Competing head-on with the Mercedes EQS, Porsche Taycan, and BMW i7, the Air differentiates itself through industry-leading range, a proprietary 924-volt electrical architecture, and a minimalist Californian interior aesthetic. Seven variants — from the entry-level Pure at AED 313,635 to the 1,234 hp Sapphire at AED 996,450 — ensure coverage across the luxury and ultra-performance segments.
The Lucid Air is the most technically advanced luxury EV sedan available in the UAE for 2025. Its 924-volt architecture, class-leading range of up to 839 km, and rapid 300 kW charging set a benchmark that European competitors have yet to match. The Pure's entry price undercuts the Mercedes EQS while delivering more range. Executive commuters, technology enthusiasts, and early adopters will find genuine substance behind the Silicon Valley promise. Limited UAE service infrastructure and uncertain resale values are the trade-offs. Visit the Lucid Studio at City Walk, Dubai, to experience the Air's cabin and performance first-hand.
Battery Spec
Three battery sizes are offered across the range. The Pure carries an 88 kWh pack (84 kWh useable); the Touring uses a 92 kWh unit; and the Grand Touring and Sapphire share a 118 kWh battery. All packs use NMC chemistry and operate on Lucid's proprietary 924-volt architecture — among the highest operating voltages of any production EV. This enables exceptionally efficient energy transfer and reduced thermal losses during sustained high-speed driving.
Real-World Range
The Grand Touring Performance's 839 km WLTP claim is the highest of any luxury sedan on sale in the UAE. In real-world UAE conditions, expect a 15–25% reduction: approximately 630–710 km in cooler months and 590–670 km in summer under full AC load. Highway driving at 120–140 km/h narrows the gap further. The Pure's 710 km WLTP translates to an estimated 530–600 km — still sufficient for a Dubai-to-Abu Dhabi return trip without charging.
Home Charging
Lucid's Wunderbox integrated charger supports up to 19.2 kW AC on higher trims (Touring AWD and above), delivering a full charge in approximately five and a half to six and a half hours. The Pure charges at a lower rate, requiring approximately eight and a half hours. At DEWA's residential rate of AED 0.23/kWh, a full 88 kWh charge costs approximately AED 20.24; the 118 kWh pack costs approximately AED 27.14. In Abu Dhabi at the expatriate rate of AED 0.27/kWh, costs rise to AED 23.76 and AED 31.86 respectively.
Public Fast Charging
DC fast charging at up to 300 kW CCS2 (200 kW for the Pure) delivers approximately 400 km of range in 20 minutes. The 10–80% charge time is roughly 25 minutes for the Pure and 26–29 minutes for the Touring through Sapphire. Compatible UAE networks include DEWA Green Charger, E2GO, UAEV, and GreenParking. The Air is not compatible with Tesla Superchargers without an adapter.
2025 Lucid Air — Battery & Charging
Cabin Comfort
The Air's cabin prioritises minimalism and space. Rear legroom is exceptionally generous for a sedan, benefitting from the flat battery floor and extended wheelbase. Front and rear seats are heated as standard; ventilation and massage functions are available on higher trims. Materials quality is premium throughout, with synthetic leather standard and Nappa leather optional.
Driver Comfort
The 34-inch curved Glass Cockpit display dominates the dashboard and is readable in direct UAE sunlight. A retractable 12.5-inch Pilot Panel on the centre console handles climate and media controls. The driving position sits low — typical of a performance sedan — with 12-way electric adjustment. Steering adjusts for rake and reach.
AC Performance
Dual-zone climate control is standard across all variants. The 924-volt heat pump (standard from 2025 on all trims) manages cabin conditioning efficiently, reducing range impact. Remote pre-cooling via the Lucid app is available. The glass roof includes UV-filtering treatment, though aftermarket tinting is recommended for peak UAE summer conditions.
Luggage
The rear trunk offers approximately 456 litres — competitive with the Mercedes EQS. A 283-litre frunk provides additional secured storage for valuables or charging cables. Combined capacity of approximately 739 litres is among the highest in the luxury sedan segment. Rear seats fold to extend trunk capacity further.
Infotainment
The 34-inch Glass Cockpit and 12.5-inch Pilot Panel run Lucid's proprietary software with full Arabic language support. Wireless Apple CarPlay is standard; Android Auto is not currently supported. The optional Surreal Sound Pro system delivers 21 speakers with Dolby Atmos spatial audio. Over-the-air updates are supported. Navigation includes integrated charge route planning.
Safety
The Lucid Air achieved a five-star Euro NCAP rating with 90% adult and 91% child occupant protection scores. DreamDrive Premium is standard from 2025, integrating 32 sensors including LiDAR, radar, cameras, and ultrasonic detectors. The ADAS suite covers AEB, adaptive cruise with stop-and-go, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, 360-degree surround-view cameras, and automated parking. DreamDrive Pro adds hands-free highway cruising on higher trims.
How Does it Drive?
Instant electric torque delivery makes the Air effortless in urban traffic. The low centre of gravity and sedan stance provide car-like agility absent in SUV-based competitors. Forward visibility is strong; the low bonnet line and slim A-pillars aid sight lines at urban junctions.
Performance
The Sapphire's 2.0-second 0–100 km/h sprint places it among the fastest production cars available in the UAE. Even the entry Pure's 4.7-second time is brisk for a luxury sedan. Overtaking on Sheikh Zayed Road and the E11 is effortless across all variants. Wind noise at 120 km/h is minimal — the Air's 0.21 Cd drag coefficient is among the lowest of any production car.
Braking
Regenerative braking is adjustable through multiple levels. One-pedal driving is available and brings the car to a complete stop. Brake feel is consistent and progressive, with the transition between regenerative and friction braking well calibrated. Carbon-ceramic brakes are standard on the Sapphire.
Autopilot
DreamDrive Premium provides Level 2 autonomous capability with adaptive cruise, lane centring, and traffic-aware stop-and-go. DreamDrive Pro (optional on Touring, standard on Grand Touring and above) enables hands-free highway driving with automated lane changes. LiDAR integration provides enhanced object detection. The system performs reliably on well-marked UAE motorways.
Handling
The Air's low centre of gravity and near 50:50 weight distribution (AWD variants) deliver composed high-speed cornering. Air suspension (Grand Touring and above) provides adaptive damping. At 4,975 mm long and 1,410 mm tall, the Air fits comfortably in multi-storey car parks. The 360-degree camera system and automated parking assist ease manoeuvring in tight Dubai parking structures.
Ride
Over the UAE's smooth urban roads, the Air delivers a refined, limousine-like ride. Air suspension variants absorb imperfections with particular composure. Road noise is suppressed effectively — double-glazed glass is standard. Even on standard coil suspension (Pure and Touring), ride quality is competitive with the Mercedes EQS.
Warranty and After-Sales
Lucid provides a four-year vehicle warranty and an eight-year battery warranty — the battery coverage aligns with industry standards for the luxury EV segment. Lucid's UAE presence centres on the City Walk Studio in Dubai, which handles sales, test drives, and delivery. A dedicated UAE service centre is under development; interim servicing is managed through authorised third-party facilities. Parts availability carries a degree of risk typical of a newer manufacturer establishing regional operations.
Grey Import vs Official Dealer
Grey-imported Lucid Air units will lack UAE-region software calibration, Arabic language support, and may carry US-spec charging configurations incompatible with the CCS2 standard used across UAE networks. Insurance loading for grey imports is typically 15–25% above official channels; some insurers decline non-agency luxury EVs entirely. Government incentives — free Salik tag, green parking bays, reduced registration fees — apply to official vehicles only. The Air's 924-volt high-voltage system requires specialist Lucid-certified tooling unavailable through independent workshops.
Cost of Ownership
At AED 313,635, the Air Pure undercuts the Mercedes EQS 450+ while offering superior WLTP range. For a buyer covering 20,000 km per year with a home wall box, annual electricity cost is estimated at AED 1,100–1,500, versus AED 8,000–12,000 for an equivalent petrol luxury sedan. Annual energy savings of AED 7,000–10,000 partially offset the premium purchase price.
Insurance estimates through official UAE channels range from AED 15,000 to AED 25,000 annually depending on variant. Annual BEV servicing is approximately AED 2,000–3,500 — lower than ICE equivalents due to the absence of oil changes and reduced brake wear from regenerative braking. Government incentives include a free Salik tag (toll charges of AED 4–6 per gate still apply), green parking bay access with a four-hour session limit, and reduced RTA registration fees.
Depreciation risk is elevated. Lucid is a newer manufacturer with limited UAE resale data, and luxury EVs in this price bracket historically depreciate faster than established German competitors. Three-year resale is estimated at 45–55% of purchase price — below the Mercedes EQS and Porsche Taycan. The eight-year battery warranty and Lucid's Saudi PIF investment backing provide some structural reassurance for long-term ownership.
