Overview
The Range Rover Sport is built on the flexible MLA-Flex architecture, providing incredible body stiffness and a library-quiet cabin. In the UAE, it’s the ultimate "lifestyle" SUV—just as comfortable cruising the E11 to Abu Dhabi as it is navigating a sandy track to a desert resort.
Engine and Performance
P400 (MHEV): The popular 3.0L Inline-6 with mild-hybrid tech, producing 395 hp and 550 Nm of torque.
P550e (PHEV): The high-performance plug-in hybrid, combining the 3.0L engine with a powerful electric motor for a total of 542 hp.
P635 (SV Edition): The "beast" of the lineup, using a BMW-sourced 4.4L Twin-Turbo V8 that churns out 635 hp.
Acceleration: The entry-level P400 manages 0–100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, while the SV flagship shreds the asphalt in just 3.8 seconds.
Handling: Standard Dynamic Air Suspension and available All-Wheel Steering make this large SUV feel surprisingly nimble in tight Dubai mall parkings.
Electric Range & Efficiency (P550e)
EV Range: The P550e offers a WLTP range of up to 121 km. In the UAE summer, you can realistically expect 85–95 km of pure electric driving—plenty for a daily commute without touching the petrol tank.
Charging: It is one of the few hybrids that supports 50kW DC fast charging, allowing you to reach 80% charge in under 60 minutes. A full home charge takes about 5 hours on a standard wallbox.
MHEV Efficiency: The P360 and P400 models average around 9–11 km/L, aided by the mild-hybrid system that recovers energy during deceleration.
Cabin Comfort and Practicality
Pivi Pro Infotainment: A massive 13.1-inch curved glass touchscreen handles everything from navigation to climate control. It features haptic feedback and a permanent side bar for quick access to frequent functions.
Materials: Beyond traditional Windsor leather, 2026 models offer Kvadrat™ wool blends and Ultrafabrics™ for a high-end, leather-free interior.
Active Noise Cancellation: Speakers in the headrests generate a "cancelling" frequency to neutralize road and wind noise, keeping the cabin serene even at 140 km/h.
Boot Space: Offers 450 to 647 liters (depending on the trim and battery setup), providing ample room for luxury shopping or weekend golf gear.
Off-Road Capability
Terrain Response 2: Includes an "Auto" mode that monitors road conditions and selects the best terrain setting (Sand, Rock, Mud, etc.) for you.
Wading Depth: It can wade through up to 900mm of water, which is useful during the occasional heavy rain floods in the UAE.
Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control: You can set a desired speed on rough tracks, and the car manages the throttle and braking while you focus solely on steering.
Dealer Warranty and Service (Al Tayer / Premier Motors)
Pricing: Starts from approximately AED 379,000 for the S P400 and can exceed AED 680,000 for the SV Edition Two.
Warranty: Includes a 5-year/150,000 km manufacturer warranty in the UAE.
Service: Typically bundled with a 5-year/100,000 km service contract (Land Rover Care), ensuring all maintenance is covered at official service centers.
Best Suited For
- Drivers who want a vehicle that is equally capable in valet parking at the Burj Al Arab as it is on a weekend trip to Liwa
- Those who value "sanctuary" levels of cabin quietness and minimal interior clutter.
- Tech-forward owners who appreciate the massive 13.1-inch Pivi Pro screen.
Not Suited For
- People who find the lack of physical buttons for volume or AC frustrating.
- Buyers on a budget; Land Rover’s maintenance and parts can be premium.
- Large families needing a 3rd row (the Sport is strictly a 5-seater; the full-size Range Rover offers 7 seats).
