Polestar 4 Review UAE
Official Range and Battery Spec
The Polestar 4
Long Range Dual Motor uses a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery on a 400-volt
architecture with dual permanent-magnet motors. Official UAE output is 544
hp and 686 Nm, with a WLTP range of 590 km. The wider Polestar 4
range also includes a Long Range Single Motor with 272 hp and a quoted 620
km WLTP.
Real-World
Range
In UAE conditions,
buyers should not expect the full 590 km in summer. In extreme heat, with
continuous air-conditioning and sustained motorway use at 120 km/h, a reduction
of around 15 to 25 per cent is a sensible planning estimate. That points
to a practical summer range of roughly 440 to 500 km, depending on
speed, load, and outside temperature. This broadly matches the character of the
tested car, which returned realistic and stable range predictions during mixed
driving.
Highway driving
between Dubai and Abu Dhabi will reduce range more sharply than city use. Urban
running should be more efficient because of regenerative braking and lower
average speeds.
Home Charging Times and Setup
For UAE owners
with a villa charger or workplace AC charging, the Polestar 4 is
straightforward. Official charging capability is up to 11 kW AC as standard,
with 22 kW AC available with the Plus Pack. Official charging times are
around 11 hours at 11 kW and 5.5 hours at 22 kW from empty to
full. On a typical 7 kW wall box, expect a full charge to take materially
longer, so overnight charging is the realistic approach.
Compatibility
with DEWA and Public Fast Chargers
The car uses the
standard regional fast-charging setup expected for modern premium EVs and is
compatible with public CCS rapid charging. Official DC peak is up to 200 kW,
with 10 to 80 per cent in around 30 minutes under ideal
conditions.
That peak figure
matters less than real charger availability. In the UAE, many public chargers
are still in the 50 kW to 150 kW band, so owners will not always see the
full 200 kW. For most buyers, this remains a home-charging-first EV with public
DC charging used mainly for intercity top-ups.
Battery and
Charging
Cabin Comfort
The Polestar 4 is
unusually spacious for a coupé-style SUV. Rear accommodation is a clear
strength, with generous legroom, good headroom, and a lounge-like feel helped
by the absence of a conventional rear window structure. The rear seats recline
electrically on higher specifications, and the cabin design is clean and
premium rather than decorative.
Driver Comfort
The driving
position is high enough to feel SUV-like, and forward visibility is strong. The
weak point is rearward visibility. There is no rear window, and instead of a
conventional rear mirror, the driver relies on a camera-based display. That
gives a wide field of view, but it will not suit everyone, especially those
sensitive to screen focus or using prescription glasses.
Another issue is
ergonomics. Core functions such as mirror adjustment, steering wheel settings,
and glovebox access are routed through the centre screen. This is modern in
appearance, but less intuitive in daily use.
AC Performance and Cabin Cooling
For UAE use,
air-conditioning performance matters more than novelty features. The Polestar 4
offers multi-zone climate control, cabin pre-conditioning, and a
heat-pump-based thermal management system. That should help efficiency and
comfort in hot weather, especially when cooling the car before departure. The
large glass area and premium materials mean buyers should still expect the
cabin to get hot when parked outdoors in summer, but remote pre-cooling is a
meaningful advantage.
Luggage Capacity
Rear luggage
capacity is 526 litres, expanding to 1,536 litres with the rear
seats folded. There is also a 15-litre front storage compartment. That
is a strong result for this class and enough for airport runs, family weekends,
and travel.
Infotainment and Tech
The centre display
is a 15.4-inch landscape screen running Android Automotive with Google
built-in. The driver also gets a 10.2-inch display, with a head-up
display available on selected versions and packs. Sound quality is a highlight,
especially with the Harman Kardon upgrade. Over-the-air updates are standard,
which helps the software stay current.
The screen
graphics are clear, but the system asks too much of the driver. For UAE buyers
moving from Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, or Volvo products with more physical
controls, there will be a learning curve.
Safety
The safety package
is extensive. Official equipment includes multiple cameras, adaptive cruise
control, lane-keeping functions, collision mitigation, cross-traffic alert,
blind-spot assistance, driver monitoring, and seven airbags. Structural safety
remains part of Polestars Volvo-derived engineering approach.
DRIVING DYNAMICS AND SAFETY
How Does it
Drive?
The Polestar 4
feels quick, secure, and easy to place for a large EV. It is not a lightweight
drivers car, but it hides its mass well enough in normal driving.
Performance
This remains the
fastest production Polestar to date. Officially, it reaches 100 km/h in 3.8
seconds, and on the road it feels every bit as rapid as the number
suggests. Overtaking performance on highways is immediate, and high-speed
cruising refinement is strong. Wind noise is well controlled for a car with
frameless doors and a coupé roofline.
Braking
Regenerative
braking strength is adjustable. The strongest one-pedal setting can feel
abrupt, while the lighter mode is smoother and easier to use in traffic. That
is likely to be the better setup for daily commuting.
Autopilot Systems
Adaptive cruise
control and lane-support systems are part of the cars appeal for the Dubai to
Abu Dhabi run. They reduce fatigue on long motorway journeys, although this
remains a driver-assistance package, not an autonomous system.
Handling and Ride
Grip and body
control are good, but the Polestar 4s natural role is refined fast cruiser
rather than aggressive back-road machine. The ride is generally composed,
though larger wheels can transmit sharper impacts. Parking is helped by a
360-degree camera and multiple sensors, and despite the cars size, it should
remain manageable in malls and tight urban parking areas.
UAE SPEC,
PRICING AND COSTS
Trim Levels and Prices in AED
The current
official UAE homepage lists the Polestar 4 range as starting from AED
159,900, while the official UAE specifications page lists the Long Range
Dual Motor from AED 224,900.
Al-Futtaim Warranty and Service Network
Polestar in the
UAE is distributed by Al-Futtaim, which materially strengthens buyer
confidence. The official warranty is 3 years vehicle warranty, plus 8
years or 160,000 km battery warranty, with battery replacement if state of
health falls below 70 per cent within the covered period. Service intervals are
generally up to 2 years or 30,000 km, and roadside assistance is
included.
Cost of
Ownership
Running costs
should be competitive against a similarly quick petrol SUV if the owner has
home charging. Depreciation is still an unknown for newer premium EVs in the
region, so official dealer backing matters. Grey imports would likely carry
higher risk around software support, warranty clarity, and parts access.
Best Suited For
- Executives
- Small families
- Long-distance commuters
- Early adopters of premium EVs
Not Suited For
- Buyers on a tight budget
- Drivers who dislike screen-heavy controls
- Those without dependable home or workplace charging
