2025 Peugeot e-2008 Review UAE
Battery Spec
Two battery options are available. The Standard variant uses a 50 kWh NMC pack producing 136 hp and 260 Nm, with a WLTP range of 345 km. The Pro/GT variant upgrades to a 54 kWh NMC pack with 156 hp and the same 260 Nm torque, extending WLTP range to 406 km. Both packs are floor-mounted beneath the cabin.
Real-World Range
UAE summer heat and continuous AC use reduce WLTP figures by 15–25%. The 50 kWh Standard realistically delivers 260–295 km in cooler months and 225–260 km in peak summer. The 54 kWh Pro/GT provides 305–345 km in mild conditions. Motorway driving at 120–140 km/h reduces range noticeably given the compact body's aerodynamic profile and the 150 km/h top speed limiter.
Home Charging
The e-2008 charges at 7.4 kW via Type 2 AC as standard, with an optional 11 kW on-board charger available on higher trims. At 7.4 kW, a full charge takes approximately 7.5 hours (50 kWh) or 8.0 hours (54 kWh). At DEWA's residential rate of AED 0.23/kWh, a full charge costs approximately AED 11.50–12.40. In Abu Dhabi at the expatriate ADDC rate of AED 0.27/kWh, the cost is approximately AED 13.50–14.60.
Public Fast Charging
DC fast charging at up to 100 kW CCS2 charges from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes across both variants. Compatible UAE networks include DEWA Green Charger, E2GO (including the E11 Saih Shuaib mega hub), UAEV across the Northern Emirates, and GreenParking. The e-2008 is not natively compatible with Tesla Superchargers.
2025 Peugeot e-2008 — Battery & Charging
Cabin Comfort
Peugeot's signature i-Cockpit layout places a compact steering wheel low with the instrument display viewed above the rim — a distinctive approach that divides opinion but rewards drivers who appreciate a direct, rally-inspired feel. Front seats are supportive with heating available on GT and above. Rear legroom is adequate for children and shorter adults but tight for taller passengers.
Driver Comfort
The elevated SUV driving position provides good forward visibility across UAE motorways. The 10-inch HD touchscreen sits centrally and is readable in direct sunlight. Steering adjusts for both rake and reach. The GT Premium adds an electrically adjustable driver seat with massage function.
AC Performance
Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard across all trims. A heat pump is standard on GT Premium and optional on lower trims — an important feature for preserving battery range in extreme UAE summer heat. Remote pre-conditioning via the MyPeugeot app allows cabin cooling before entry. Ventilated seats are not offered on any variant — a notable omission for the UAE market.
Luggage
Boot space is 434 litres with rear seats upright — competitive for the B/C-segment. Folding the 60/40 rear bench expands capacity to 1,400 litres with a flat load floor. A two-level adjustable boot floor provides flexible loading options. No frunk is available; the front section houses the electric motor and drivetrain hardware.
Infotainment
The 10-inch HD touchscreen runs Peugeot's i-Connect system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Arabic language support is available through the connected services ecosystem. The Pro/GT variant adds integrated satellite navigation. A wireless phone charger is standard on GT Premium. Over-the-air updates are supported through the Stellantis connected platform.
Safety
Six airbags including frontal, side, and curtain protection are standard. The ADAS suite covers AEB with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and a 360-degree surround camera. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go is standard on GT Premium. A driver attention monitoring camera tracks fatigue at speeds above 65 km/h. Euro NCAP has not published a dedicated rating for the e-2008 EV variant at the time of writing.
How Does it Drive?
The e-2008 feels nimble and composed in urban settings. The low-mounted battery lowers the centre of gravity compared to the petrol 2008, improving body control through roundabouts and lane changes. Forward visibility from the raised SUV position is strong; the 360-degree camera assists in tighter spaces.
Performance
The Standard's 9.0-second sprint to 100 km/h is adequate for daily commuting and confident highway merging. The Pro/GT adds 20 hp but records a marginally slower 9.1-second time due to the heavier 54 kWh battery. Neither variant is rapid by EV standards, but instant electric torque makes city driving and roundabout exits effortless. Top speed is limited to 150 km/h.
Braking
Regenerative braking is available via B-mode on the gear selector. The system provides noticeable deceleration but does not offer true one-pedal driving — brake pedal input is required to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. Brake feel is consistent and progressive across driving modes.
Autopilot
Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go is standard on GT Premium and provides reliable lane-centred motorway driving on well-marked UAE highways. Lane-keep assist is standard across all trims. The system does not offer hands-free capability — steering input is required at all times.
Handling
The compact dimensions and light kerb weight of approximately 1,372 kg make the e-2008 agile through urban traffic and multi-storey car parks. The i-Cockpit's small-diameter steering wheel provides a direct, responsive feel. Cornering grip is adequate for the segment, aided by the low battery placement.
Ride
Over the UAE's predominantly smooth urban roads, the e-2008 delivers a comfortable and composed ride. The suspension absorbs speed bumps competently without excessive body movement. Short-wheelbase pitch is occasionally noticeable over sharper road imperfections at lower speeds.
Warranty and After-Sales
Swaidan Trading, part of the Al Naboodah Group, is Peugeot's official UAE distributor with showrooms in Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah. The e-2008 is covered by Peugeot's CARE Warranty programme — eight years or 160,000 km for the high-voltage battery, electric motor, charger, and main electrical components, with a minimum 70% battery capacity guarantee. Stellantis-certified EV technicians are available at authorised service centres across the UAE.
Grey Import vs Official Dealer
Grey import e-2008 units may lack UAE-specific software calibration, regional navigation mapping, and the correct charging protocol configuration for local DC networks. Insurance loading on grey imports is typically 15–25% above standard premiums; some UAE insurers decline grey-import EVs entirely. Government incentives — free Salik tag, green parking bays, reduced registration fees — apply exclusively to officially imported vehicles registered through Swaidan Trading.
Cost of Ownership
At AED 145,000, the e-2008 Standard undercuts most European compact EVs in the UAE while delivering a recognisable premium badge. For a buyer covering 20,000 km per year on home charging, annual electricity cost is estimated at AED 1,300–1,600 (DEWA rates), versus AED 6,000–8,000 for a comparable petrol crossover. Annual fuel savings of AED 4,500–6,500 are realistic.
Insurance estimates through official channels range from AED 5,500 to AED 9,000 annually depending on variant and driver profile. BEV servicing is minimal — Peugeot's scheduled maintenance covers cabin filter, brake fluid, and software updates at approximately AED 1,200–2,000 per year. Government incentives include a free Salik tag (toll charges of AED 4–6 per gate still apply), green parking bay access with a four-hour session limit, and reduced RTA registration fees.
Depreciation risk is moderate. Peugeot's brand presence in the UAE is established but niche compared to Japanese and Korean competitors, which may affect resale demand. The eight-year battery warranty and Stellantis's expanding EV service infrastructure provide reassurance. Three-year resale is estimated at 50–60% of purchase price — slightly below mainstream Japanese brands but competitive within the European compact EV segment.
