2025 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV Review UAE
Battery Spec
The 350+ uses a 96.0 kWh NCM 811 lithium-ion battery; the 350 4MATIC, 500 4MATIC, and AMG 53 share a 90.6 kWh pack. NCM 811 chemistry offers high energy density but is more sensitive to sustained heat than LFP alternatives. Mercedes fits an active liquid cooling circuit with thermal management that pre-conditions the battery ahead of DC fast charging sessions when using the navigation system.
Real-World Range
The 350+ leads with 590 km WLTP; the AMG 53 returns 455 km due to its higher power draw. In UAE summer conditions with full climate control, expect a 20–25% reduction — placing the 350+ at approximately 445–470 km and the AMG 53 at 340–365 km. Highway cruising at 120–140 km/h drops range further, particularly for AWD variants under sustained load.
Home Charging
The standard 11 kW onboard charger delivers a full charge in approximately 9.5–10.5 hours via Type 2 AC — suitable for overnight villa charging. A 22 kW onboard charger is optionally available, halving the time to under five hours. At DEWA's residential rate of AED 0.23/kWh, a full charge costs approximately AED 20.80–22.08. In Abu Dhabi at the expatriate rate of AED 0.27/kWh, the cost is approximately AED 24.46–25.92.
Public Fast Charging
DC fast charging peaks at 170 kW via CCS2, with 10–80% achieved in approximately 32 minutes. Compatible UAE networks include DEWA Green Charger, E2GO (including Saih Shuaib on the E11), UAEV in the Northern Emirates, and GreenParking. Tesla Supercharger access is not natively available. The Electric Intelligence navigation system automatically routes via available chargers and pre-conditions the battery en route.
2025 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV — Battery & Charging
Cabin Comfort
Rear legroom is generous for adults up to six feet thanks to the 3,030 mm wheelbase. The rear bench offers three-across seating with a flat floor. Materials throughout are typical Mercedes — soft-touch surfaces, open-pore wood or aluminium trim, and double-glazed glass on higher variants. The 64-colour ambient lighting system extends across the dashboard and doors.
Driver Comfort
The driving position is elevated but not excessively tall. Multicontour front seats with massage function are available. The steering column adjusts for rake and reach, and the 12.3-inch digital cluster sits behind a compact two-spoke wheel. The optional MBUX Hyperscreen — a 56-inch curved glass panel spanning the full dashboard width — is standard on the AMG 53 and optional on lower trims.
AC Performance
Dual-zone climate control is standard; four-zone THERMOTRONIC is available. Remote pre-conditioning through the Mercedes me app cools the cabin while the vehicle is plugged in — essential before entering a midday-parked car in the UAE. Ventilated front seats are available as an option. The heat pump improves efficiency and preserves range when running the climate system at full load in summer.
Luggage
Boot space measures 520 litres with the rear seats upright, expanding to 1,675 litres with them folded — competitive with the BMW iX and Audi Q8 e-tron. No frunk is available; the front section houses the electric motor and inverter hardware. A powered tailgate is standard.
Infotainment
The standard setup pairs a 12.3-inch digital cluster with a 12.8-inch OLED central touchscreen running MBUX. The optional Hyperscreen adds a 12.3-inch passenger display under shared curved glass. Arabic language support is available on MENA-specification vehicles for both display and voice control. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. Electric Intelligence navigation plans routes around charging stops and pre-conditions the battery accordingly.
Safety
Euro NCAP awarded five stars in 2023 with 87% adult occupant protection. Seven airbags are standard, including a centre airbag between front occupants. Standard ADAS includes Active Brake Assist, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera. The optional Driving Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise with stop-and-go, active lane change assist, and traffic jam assist.
How Does it Drive?
The EQE SUV delivers a refined, insulated driving experience typical of Mercedes electric models. AIRMATIC air suspension absorbs road imperfections smoothly. Forward visibility from the raised seating position is excellent; the wide body provides confidence on UAE motorways. The transition from regenerative to friction braking is seamless.
Performance
The 350+ and 350 4MATIC are relaxed cruisers — 6.6–6.7 seconds to 100 km/h suits the commuter brief. The 500 4MATIC steps up to 4.9 seconds with noticeably sharper throttle response. The AMG 53 delivers 3.5 seconds and 240 km/h — genuinely rapid for a 2,690 kg SUV. Wind noise at 120 km/h is well suppressed, aided by the aerodynamic profile and double-glazed glass on higher trims.
Braking
Regenerative braking is adjustable via steering wheel paddles with three intensity levels and a coasting mode. One-pedal driving is available by selecting the strongest recuperation setting. Brake feel is consistent and predictable across all modes.
Autopilot
The optional Driving Assistance Package provides adaptive cruise with stop-and-go and active steering assist — reliable on the E11 and Sheikh Zayed Road. Active lane change assist overtakes slower traffic with a nudge of the indicator. No Level 3 autonomous capability is offered in the UAE specification.
Handling
Rear-axle steering of up to 10 degrees dramatically tightens the turning circle — invaluable for multi-storey car parks and tight Dubai side streets. At speed, the system improves stability during lane changes. AIRMATIC air suspension lowers the body at motorway speeds for improved aerodynamics. The EQE SUV fits comfortably in standard multi-storey structures at 1,685 mm height.
Ride
Air suspension delivers a plush, composed ride over the UAE's predominantly smooth road surfaces. At lower speeds, the EQE SUV absorbs speed bumps and lane markings with minimal disturbance. The AMG 53 on larger wheels is firmer but remains comfortable for daily use. Rear passenger comfort is excellent across all variants.
Warranty and After-Sales
Gargash Enterprises provides a three-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty and a 10-year or 250,000 km high-voltage battery warranty with a 70% capacity guarantee — among the strongest in the UAE luxury EV segment. Service centres are established in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi (via Emirates Motor Company), and the Northern Emirates. Mercedes-Benz certified high-voltage technicians and genuine parts supply are well established given the brand's decades-long UAE presence.
Grey Import vs Official Dealer
Grey import EQE SUV units typically lack MENA-specific software including Arabic MBUX, regional navigation mapping, and UAE-calibrated thermal management routines. Insurance loading is 15–25% above standard for grey imports; some insurers decline cover entirely on electric vehicles without official provenance. Government incentives — free Salik tag, green parking bays, reduced registration fees — apply exclusively to officially registered agency vehicles. The high-voltage battery warranty and over-the-air update access are void on non-agency units.
Cost of Ownership
At AED 402,900 for the entry 350+, the EQE SUV competes with the BMW iX xDrive40 and undercuts the Porsche Macan Electric. For a buyer covering 20,000 km per year with a home wall box, annual electricity cost is estimated at approximately AED 1,400–1,600 at DEWA rates, versus AED 10,000–14,000 for a petrol GLE 450. Combined annual energy savings are estimated at AED 8,000–12,000.
Insurance estimates through official UAE channels range from AED 16,000 to AED 28,000 annually depending on variant and driver profile. Service intervals are approximately every 25,000 km or two years; annual service costs are estimated at AED 3,000–5,000. Government incentives include a free Salik tag (toll charges of AED 4–6 per gate still apply), green parking bay access with a four-hour session limit, and reduced RTA registration fees.
Depreciation risk is moderate to high. Electric luxury SUVs in the UAE have historically experienced steeper first-year depreciation than their ICE counterparts, particularly as newer models arrive. However, the 10-year battery warranty and Mercedes-Benz brand strength provide a floor that less established marques lack. Three-year resale is estimated at 45–55% of purchase price — comparable to the BMW iX and marginally below a petrol GLE.
