2026 Lotus Eletre Review UAE
Battery Spec
The Eletre EREV
carries a 70 kWh battery pack on a 900-volt high-voltage architecture. The
2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine functions exclusively as a
generator — it does not drive the wheels directly. Dual permanent-magnet
synchronous motors power all four wheels, producing a combined 952 hp and over
1,000 Nm. Official WLTP electric-only range is approximately 350 km, with a
combined electric-and-fuel range exceeding 1,200 km.
Real-World Range
In UAE summer
conditions with sustained AC use at 45°C ambient, expect electric-only range to
fall to approximately 265–300 km — a 15–25% reduction from the WLTP figure.
Highway driving at 120–140 km/h further reduces efficiency due to increased
aerodynamic drag. The range extender eliminates range anxiety entirely on
longer routes such as Dubai–Abu Dhabi or Dubai–Al Ain, making the Eletre
practical for inter-emirate travel without charging stops.
Home Charging
The Eletre supports
22 kW AC charging via Type 2, completing a full 0–100% charge in approximately
3.2 hours on a compatible three-phase wall box. On a standard 7 kW villa wall
box, a full charge takes approximately 10 hours — comfortably overnight. At DEWA's
residential rate of AED 0.23/kWh, a full 70 kWh charge costs approximately AED
16.10. At Abu Dhabi's expatriate rate of AED 0.27/kWh, the cost rises to
approximately AED 18.90.
Public Fast Charging
The 900-volt, 6C
architecture supports DC fast charging at over 350 kW via CCS2, recovering
20–80% in approximately nine minutes at compatible ultra-fast chargers. Most
UAE public DC chargers top out at 150–350 kW through DEWA Green Charger, E2GO
(including the E11 Saih Shuaib mega hub), and UAEV stations. The Eletre is not
natively compatible with Tesla Superchargers. GreenParking stations offer
additional Type 2 AC coverage across the UAE and Oman.

Lotus Eletre — Battery & Charging
Cabin Comfort
The Eletre seats
four or five occupants depending on rear configuration. Heated and ventilated
front seats are standard, with optional heated and ventilated rear outer seats.
Four-zone climate control with a heat pump maintains cabin temperature efficiently.
The electrochromic panoramic roof switches between transparent and opaque
states, though UV tinting film remains advisable given the UAE's solar
intensity.
Driver Comfort
The driving position
is lower and more sports-car-like than traditional SUVs. The steering column
adjusts for rake and reach. Forward visibility is strong; the sloping roofline
limits rear three-quarter sightlines, making the surround-view camera system essential
for parking. The head-up display projects speed, navigation, and ADAS status
onto the windscreen.
AC Performance
Four-zone climate
control with a heat pump cools the cabin efficiently even from above 55°C.
Remote pre-conditioning via the Lotus app is standard. Ventilated front seats
are essential in UAE stop-start traffic. The electrochromic panoramic roof
reduces solar heat gain, though aftermarket tinting on side glass is still
recommended for sustained summer comfort.
Luggage
Boot capacity is 688
litres with rear seats upright, expanding to 1,532 litres with the rear bench
folded. The EREV variant does not offer a front boot (frunk) — the 2.0-litre
range-extender engine occupies the front compartment. For a hyper-SUV, the rear
cargo space is competitive with the Porsche Cayenne and exceeds the Lamborghini
Urus.
Infotainment
A 15.1-inch central
touchscreen runs Lotus Hyper OS with 5G connectivity. The 12.3-inch digital
instrument cluster and standard head-up display complete the driver's
information set. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported. Arabic language
support in the infotainment system has not been confirmed for the EREV variant
at the time of writing — prospective buyers should verify this with Adamas
Motors before ordering. The KEF Premium audio system with 15 speakers and 1,380
watts is standard; a 23-speaker KEF Reference system is optional.
Safety
The Eletre carries
six airbags (front, side, and curtain), AEB, lane-keep assist, blind-spot
monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a 360-degree surround-view camera.
The sensor suite includes four deployable LiDAR units, five cameras, and 12
ultrasonic sensors. Brembo six-piston front calipers deliver a claimed 100–0
km/h braking distance of 33.9 metres. Euro NCAP has not yet tested the EREV
variant.
How Does it Drive?
With wheels driven
exclusively by electric motors, the Eletre delivers instant torque from
standstill. The range-extender engine remains virtually silent under normal
driving, activating only under sustained high-speed load or when battery
state-of-charge drops below the threshold. Forward visibility is strong; the
low roofline and thick D-pillars limit over-shoulder checks.
Performance
The 3.3-second 0–100
km/h time places the Eletre alongside the Lamborghini Urus Performante in
outright acceleration. Overtaking on Sheikh Zayed Road or the E11 is effortless
and instantaneous. Wind noise at 120 km/h is well-managed by active aerodynamic
elements including the deployable rear spoiler. Road roar from the custom
Pirelli P Zero tyres is present but controlled.
Braking
Regenerative braking
is adjustable across three levels. One-pedal driving is available but does not
bring the vehicle to a complete stop — brake pedal input is required at low
speed. Brembo six-piston callipers with optional carbon-ceramic discs provide exceptional
stopping power, particularly important given the vehicle's estimated 2,700 kg
kerb weight.
Autopilot
Level 2+ driver
assistance includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane centring,
automatic lane change, and semi-autonomous parking. The four deployable LiDAR
units provide detailed environmental mapping. Highway assist functions reliably
on well-marked UAE motorways such as the E11 and Sheikh Zayed Road.
Handling
Rear-wheel steering
sharpens low-speed manoeuvrability and stabilises high-speed direction changes.
The active stabiliser bar minimises body roll through fast corners. At 5,103 mm
long and 2,019 mm wide, multi-storey car parks with standard 2.1-metre height
clearance remain accessible, though width-restricted bays require care. The
360-degree camera and ultrasonic sensors assist in tight urban environments.
Ride
Dual-chamber air
suspension with continuously controlled damping (CCD) delivers supple comfort
across the UAE's predominantly smooth urban roads. The system adjusts ride
height between 162 mm and 212 mm depending on speed and mode. Occupant comfort
over expansion joints and speed bumps is excellent — a meaningful advantage
over stiffer competitors in this segment.
Off-Road
The Eletre is not
designed for serious desert driving. Maximum ground clearance of 212 mm on the
highest air-suspension setting is adequate for graded gravel tracks and light
sand but insufficient for dune work. AWD torque distribution provides confidence
on wet or loose surfaces. For buyers requiring genuine desert capability,
dedicated off-road SUVs remain the better choice.
Adamas Motors — Warranty and Service
Adamas Motors is the
exclusive Lotus retail partner in the UAE and Bahrain, operating from Dubai.
The standard vehicle warranty covers five years or 150,000 km. Battery warranty
terms for the EREV variant have not been confirmed at the time of writing — buyers
should verify directly with Adamas Motors. The dealer network is limited to
Dubai, with no confirmed service centres in Abu Dhabi or the Northern Emirates.
Parts availability for Lotus models in the UAE remains a consideration, given
the brand's low volume in the region.
Grey Import vs Official Dealer
Grey import Eletre
units may lack GCC-specification software calibration, Arabic navigation
support, and thermal management routines optimised for sustained 45°C+
operation. Insurance loading on grey imports is typically 15–25% above standard
rates, with some insurers declining coverage entirely. Government incentives —
including the free Salik tag, green parking bays (four-hour limit), and reduced
registration fees — apply exclusively to official agency vehicles. The 900-volt
high-voltage system and LiDAR array require manufacturer-certified diagnostics
unavailable outside the Adamas Motors network.
Cost of Ownership
At AED 550,000, the
Eletre EREV sits below the Lamborghini Urus (from AED 900,000+) and competes
directly with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid (from AED 580,000+). For a
buyer covering 20,000 km annually with 60% of driving on electric power and a
home wall box, estimated annual energy cost is approximately AED 2,500 —
combining electricity at DEWA rates and petrol for the range extender. A
comparable petrol performance SUV consuming 15 L/100 km costs approximately AED
8,400 annually in fuel alone.
Insurance estimates
for the Eletre through official UAE channels range from AED 18,000 to AED
25,000 annually, reflecting its high purchase price and performance
classification. Annual servicing is estimated at AED 4,000–6,000 — the EREV's
engine adds service complexity versus a pure BEV. Government incentives include
a free Salik tag (toll charges of AED 4–6 per gate still apply), green parking
bay access with a four-hour session limit, and reduced RTA registration fees.
Depreciation risk is
elevated. Lotus has minimal resale track record in the UAE SUV market, and the
EREV powertrain is a first-generation product. Three-year residual values are
difficult to project with confidence — estimated at 45–55% of purchase price.
Buyers should factor this uncertainty into their ownership cost calculation.
The 900-volt architecture and premium battery chemistry do support long-term
reliability, which may strengthen residuals as the market matures.
