2025 Kia EV6 Review UAE
Battery Spec
Two NMC battery
options are available: a 58 kWh pack for city-focused use and a 77.4 kWh
long-range option for inter-emirate commuters. Both sit beneath the cabin
floor, lowering the centre of gravity. The 800-volt architecture enables
bi-directional charging, V2L power export at 3.6 kW, and compatibility with
both 400V and 800V DC chargers without an external adapter.
Real-World Range
The 77.4 kWh RWD
variant claims 504–528 km WLTP. In UAE summer conditions with full
air-conditioning load, real-world range falls to approximately 400–430 km in
mixed driving. Motorway cruising at 120–140 km/h reduces this further to
350–380 km. The 58 kWh pack delivers a realistic 280–320 km in summer. AWD
variants consume roughly 8–12% more energy than equivalent RWD models.
Home Charging
The EV6 accepts up
to 11 kW single-phase AC via Type 2, completing a full charge of the 77.4 kWh
battery in approximately 7.5 hours. At DEWA's residential rate of AED 0.23/kWh,
a full charge costs approximately AED 17.80. In Abu Dhabi at the expatriate ADDC
rate of AED 0.27/kWh, the cost is approximately AED 20.90. Overnight charging
from a villa wall box is the most cost-effective daily routine.
Public Fast Charging
The EV6's 800-volt
architecture supports DC fast charging at up to 235 kW via CCS2, achieving
10–80% in approximately 18 minutes on a compatible 350 kW charger. Battery
preconditioning activates automatically when a DC charger is set as the
navigation destination. Compatible UAE networks include DEWA Green Charger,
E2GO (ADNOC/TAQA), Tesla Supercharger (via CCS2), UAEV, and GreenParking.

Kia EV6 — Battery & Charging
Cabin Comfort
Front seats are
supportive with electric adjustment; GT-Line and GT trims add ventilation and
Nappa leather. Rear legroom is adequate for two adults but tight for three
abreast, a consequence of the crossover's compact 4.7-metre footprint. The flat
floor improves middle-seat comfort relative to ICE crossovers. A sliding rear
bench allows occupants to trade legroom for boot space.
Driver Comfort
The 12.3-inch curved
dual-screen arrangement places navigation and vehicle data within easy sight. A
head-up display is standard on GT-Line and GT trims. The augmented-reality HUD
overlays directional arrows onto the driver's real-world view. Steering column
adjusts for rake and reach; the two-spoke wheel is distinctive but polarising.
AC Performance
Dual-zone climate
control with a heat pump is standard across all trims. The heat pump improves
winter efficiency but, critically for the UAE, reduces air-conditioning energy
draw during extreme summer. Remote pre-cooling via the Kia Connect app is standard.
Cabin cooling from above 55°C to comfortable temperature takes approximately
five minutes.
Luggage
Boot space is 490
litres behind the rear seats, expanding to approximately 1,300 litres with the
60:40 split rear bench folded. A 52-litre front trunk (frunk) accommodates
charging cables or a small carry-on. The powered tailgate is standard on
GT-Line and GT. Under-floor storage in the boot houses the charging cable and
tyre repair kit.
Infotainment
The dual 12.3-inch
curved display runs Kia's ccNC infotainment platform with full Arabic language
support. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. Over-the-air
updates keep navigation and software current. A Meridian premium sound system
with 14 speakers is standard on GT-Line and GT trims. Two wireless charging
pads are fitted.
Safety
Euro NCAP awarded
five stars in 2022. The ADAS suite includes AEB with pedestrian and cyclist
detection, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with collision avoidance,
rear cross-traffic alert, and a 360-degree surround camera. Highway Driving
Assist 2 provides Level 2 semi-autonomous driving with lane centring and
adaptive cruise with stop-and-go. Eight airbags are standard.
How Does it Drive?
The EV6 rides lower
than most crossovers, delivering a planted, car-like feel on UAE motorways.
Electric torque is immediate from standstill, making roundabout exits and
filter merges effortless. The transition between driving modes (Eco, Normal,
Sport) noticeably adjusts throttle mapping and steering weight. GT trim adds a
dedicated Drift mode.
Performance
The range spans 170
hp in the entry RWD 58 kWh to 641 hp in the AWD 77.4 kWh GT. The GT dispatches
0–100 km/h in 3.5 seconds — supercar territory from a family crossover. Even
the AWD 77.4 kWh Light at 325 hp and 5.2 seconds is brisk. Overtaking at 120 km/h
is decisive across all variants. The GT's electronically limited top speed is
260 km/h.
Braking
Regenerative braking
is adjustable through five levels via steering-wheel paddles. The i-Pedal
one-pedal driving mode brings the vehicle to a complete stop without brake
pedal input. Brake blending between regenerative and hydraulic systems is
seamless. GT trim adds larger brake discs for sustained high-speed
deceleration.
Autopilot
Highway Driving
Assist 2 combines adaptive cruise with lane centring and performs reliably on
the E11, Sheikh Zayed Road, and Abu Dhabi–Dubai motorway. The system handles
stop-and-go traffic smoothly. Lane changes require driver input via the
indicator stalk. No Level 3 autonomous capability is offered.
Handling
The battery-floor
layout and 2,900 mm wheelbase deliver a low centre of gravity that resists body
roll through high-speed directional changes. Electric power steering provides
adequate feedback. Multi-link rear suspension absorbs mid-corner bumps without
unsettling the chassis. The GT's electronically controlled limited-slip
differential sharpens turn-in noticeably.
Ride
On the UAE's
predominantly smooth urban roads, the EV6 rides with composed, slightly firm
comfort. GT-Line and GT trims on 20-inch wheels transmit more surface
imperfections than the Light on 19-inch wheels. Speed bumps are handled
cleanly. Highway cruising is quiet, with wind noise well-controlled despite the
crossover roofline.
Warranty and After-Sales
Al Majid Motors
covers the EV6 with a five-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty and an
eight-year or 160,000 km battery warranty. High-voltage service is available at
Al Majid's Dubai and Sharjah facilities. The E-GMP platform shares components
with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, ensuring parts availability is stronger than most
standalone EV platforms in the UAE market.
Grey Import vs Official Dealer
Grey import EV6
units may arrive with NACS (Tesla) charging ports rather than CCS2, rendering
them incompatible with the UAE's CCS2-based public charging infrastructure
without an adapter. Battery thermal management calibration, Arabic navigation,
and UAE-specific connectivity features are absent on non-GCC units. Insurance
loading is 15–25% above standard. Government incentives — free Salik tag, green
parking, reduced registration fees — apply to official agency vehicles only.
Cost of Ownership
At AED 180,000 for
the entry AWD 58 kWh Light, the EV6 undercuts the Tesla Model Y Long Range and
BMW iX1 xDrive30 while offering faster DC charging than both. For a buyer
covering 20,000 km per year with a home wall box, annual electricity cost is
approximately AED 1,200–1,600, versus AED 7,000–9,000 for an equivalent petrol
crossover. Combined running cost savings are estimated at AED 5,000–7,500 per
year.
Insurance estimates
through official UAE channels range from AED 7,000 to AED 11,000 annually
depending on variant and driver profile. Annual BEV servicing is approximately
AED 1,500–2,500 — no oil changes, spark plugs, or exhaust system maintenance.
Government incentives include a free Salik tag (toll charges of AED 4–6 per
gate still apply), green parking bay access with a four-hour session limit, and
reduced RTA registration fees.
Depreciation risk is
moderate-to-low. The E-GMP platform's proven reliability across Hyundai and Kia
models, combined with 800V charging convenience, supports residual values. Al
Majid Motors' established UAE presence reduces the brand-trust gap that affects
newer Chinese entrants. Three-year resale is estimated at 55–65% of purchase
price, competitive with the Ioniq 5 and ahead of most Chinese-brand EVs.
