2025 Kia EV3 Review UAE

Battery Spec
Two NMC811 battery options are available: a 58.3 kWh pack on the Standard variant and an 81.4 kWh pack on the Long Range and Premium/GT-Line trims. Cells are supplied by LG Energy Solution in pouch format, assembled by Webasto. The E-GMP platform operates on a 400V architecture. A heat pump is available to optimise range in extreme temperatures — a meaningful advantage in UAE summer conditions where cabin cooling demands are high.
Real-World Range
The Long Range variant's 605 km WLTP figure translates to approximately 455–515 km in real-world UAE conditions, accounting for motorway speeds, AC load, and ambient heat. The Standard variant at 436 km WLTP delivers approximately 330–370 km. Both figures comfortably cover Abu Dhabi–Dubai–Abu Dhabi round trips. The Premium/GT-Line at 563 km WLTP sits at approximately 420–480 km — the slightly reduced figure reflects additional equipment weight and larger wheels.
Home Charging
The EV3 charges via an 11 kW Type 2 AC onboard charger. The 58.3 kWh Standard variant reaches full from empty in approximately 5.4 hours; the 81.4 kWh Long Range requires approximately 7.3 hours. At DEWA's residential rate of AED 0.23/kWh, a full Long Range charge costs approximately AED 18.72. In Abu Dhabi at the expatriate ADDC rate of AED 0.27/kWh, the same charge costs AED 21.98.
Public Fast Charging
DC fast charging via CCS2 peaks at 128 kW on the Long Range and 101 kW on the Standard variant, completing 10–80% in approximately 29–31 minutes. Compatible UAE networks: DEWA Green Charger, E2GO (ADNOC/TAQA), Tesla Supercharger (CCS2 access where available), UAEV, and GreenParking. The 400V architecture means the EV3 does not benefit from ultra-fast 350 kW chargers, but 29-minute stops are practical for road trips and shopping breaks. 2025 Kia EV3 — Battery & Charging
Cabin Comfort
The EV3 seats five with heated front seats as standard across all trims. The top-spec Premium/GT-Line adds ventilated front seats and heated rear seats — an important distinction for UAE summers. The 2,680 mm wheelbase delivers competitive rear legroom for the compact segment. Material quality is a step above the price point, with soft-touch surfaces across the dashboard and door trims. The flat floor, courtesy of the skateboard battery platform, maximises rear passenger foot space.
Driver Comfort
A triple-screen layout dominates the dashboard: a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen, and a 5.3-inch dedicated climate control display — spanning nearly 30 inches across. The head-up display on the Premium/GT-Line projects speed and navigation data. Power-adjustable driver's seat is standard from the mid-tier trim upward. The steering column adjusts for rake and reach.
AC Performance
Automatic climate control cools the cabin effectively in UAE summer conditions. The heat pump system assists efficiency by reducing the energy drawn from the battery for cabin cooling and heating. Remote pre-cooling via the Kia Connect app is supported. Ventilated front seats on the top trim are a genuine comfort differentiator during June–September. Rear seat cooling vents are fitted.
Luggage
The 460-litre boot is class-leading — larger than the Volvo EX30 (318 L) and the BYD Atto 3 (440 L). Rear seats fold to expand capacity to 1,251 litres. A 25-litre frunk beneath the bonnet accommodates charging cables or small valuables. The wide boot opening and flat load floor make loading practical for weekly shopping and family luggage.
Infotainment
The 12.3-inch central touchscreen runs Kia's latest infotainment platform with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Arabic language and Middle East navigation maps are standard on GCC-spec units through Al Majid Motors. Over-the-air updates are supported. Digital Key 2.0 — using a smartphone as the vehicle key — is available from the mid-tier trim. The Premium/GT-Line adds a Harman Kardon eight-speaker audio system.
Safety
Seven airbags are standard, including a front centre airbag between driver and passenger. The DriveWise ADAS suite includes forward collision-avoidance assist (vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists), Highway Driving Assist 2 with lane centring, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, parking collision-avoidance assist, and remote smart parking assist. Euro NCAP awarded five stars with the DriveWise pack, including a "Very Good" rating for assisted driving capability.
How Does it Drive?
The EV3 delivers a composed, refined driving experience that belies its compact dimensions. The 201 hp front motor provides instant torque from standstill, making urban driving responsive and motorway merging confident. NVH insulation is strong — wind and road noise are well-managed at 120 km/h cruising speeds on the E11 and Sheikh Zayed Road.
Performance
The 0–100 km/h sprint takes 7.5 seconds on the Standard variant and 7.7–7.9 seconds on the heavier Long Range and Premium trims. Top speed is limited to 170 km/h. The EV3 is not a performance SUV — it prioritises efficiency and comfort. Overtaking at motorway speeds is decisive, and the immediate torque delivery makes it feel quicker in real-world driving than the numbers suggest.
Braking
Regenerative braking is adjustable via paddle shifters behind the steering wheel, with multiple levels including an i-Pedal mode that enables one-pedal driving to a full stop. The system recovers meaningful energy in stop-start Dubai traffic. Conventional disc brakes complement the regenerative system for consistent stopping performance.
Autopilot
Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2) combines adaptive cruise control with lane centring for a semi-autonomous motorway experience. The system handles lane changes with indicator input and maintains smooth following distances in heavy traffic. Euro NCAP awarded a "Very Good" assisted driving rating — 74/100 for competence and 88/100 for safety backup. The system functions reliably on well-marked UAE motorways and requests driver input on older secondary roads.
Handling
MacPherson front struts and a multi-link rear suspension provide a balanced, composed feel through direction changes. The independent rear setup is a notable advantage over torsion-beam competitors at this price point. Body roll is well-controlled for a compact SUV. The 4,300 mm length and reasonable turning radius make multi-storey car parks and urban manoeuvres straightforward — a practical advantage for Dubai apartment residents.
Ride
Over the UAE's predominantly smooth urban roads, the EV3 rides with a calm, settled composure. The multi-link rear suspension absorbs expansion joints and speed bumps effectively. At 1,725–1,810 kg, the battery mass provides a planted, stable feel without the excessive weight of larger EVs. Ground clearance of 140 mm is adequate for standard UAE roads and minor kerb clearance but not for desert or gravel tracks.
Warranty and After-Sales
Al Majid Motors covers the EV3 with a five-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty. The high-voltage EV battery warranty is expected to be eight years — consistent with Kia's global EV policy — though buyers should confirm the exact UAE terms at the dealer. Al Majid operates service centres across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and the Northern Emirates with trained EV technicians. Annual BEV servicing is estimated at AED 1,500–2,500 — significantly lower than comparable petrol SUVs.
Grey Import vs Official Dealer
Grey import EV3 units may use CCS1 (North American) charging plugs instead of the GCC-standard CCS2, requiring adapters that reduce charging speed and void warranty coverage. Korean-spec or European-spec units may lack Arabic language, Middle East navigation maps, and GCC-specific climate calibration. Insurance loading on grey imports is 15–25% above standard. Government EV incentives — free Salik tag, green parking, reduced registration fees — apply to official agency vehicles only. With Al Majid's established network and competitive official pricing, the grey import route offers minimal savings against significant risk.
Cost of Ownership
At AED 155,000, the Standard EV3 undercuts the Volvo EX30 and sits competitively against the BYD Atto 3. For a buyer covering 20,000 km per year with a home wall box, annual electricity cost is estimated at AED 1,000–1,400 (Long Range). Versus a comparable petrol compact SUV consuming 8 L/100 km, annual fuel savings are approximately AED 5,000–7,000. The EV3's efficiency — among the best in class — keeps running costs consistently low. Insurance estimates through official UAE channels range from AED 7,000 to AED 10,000 annually. Annual BEV servicing is approximately AED 1,500–2,500 — no oil changes, no transmission fluid, no exhaust system. Government incentives include a free Salik tag (toll charges of AED 4–6 per gate still apply), green parking bay access with a four-hour session limit, and reduced RTA registration fees. Depreciation risk is low-to-moderate. Kia's brand trust in the UAE is well-established through decades of Al Majid representation, and the EV3's World Car of the Year recognition strengthens demand. NMC811 chemistry performs well in hot climates when paired with active thermal management. Three-year resale is estimated at 55–65% of purchase price — competitive with the Hyundai Kona Electric and above most Chinese-brand alternatives in the segment. 2025 Kia EV3 — Standard Equipment
