2026 GMC Sierra EV Review UAE
Battery Spec
The Sierra EV is
built on GM's Ultium platform and offers two battery configurations. The
Elevation uses a ~170 kWh NCMA pack delivering 510 hp, whilst the AT4 and
Denali step up to a ~205 kWh unit producing 650 hp and 754 hp respectively. All
variants use dual-motor e4WD with an 800-volt architecture enabling ultra-fast
DC charging.
Real-World Range
WLTP-estimated range
spans ~615 km for the Elevation, ~710 km for the AT4, and ~640 km for the
Denali. Applying the standard UAE deduction of 15–25% for summer heat and
motorway cruising, expect real-world figures of approximately 460–535 km
(Elevation), 530–600 km (AT4), and 480–545 km (Denali). Abu Dhabi to Dubai
round-trips are comfortably achievable on a single charge across all variants.
Home Charging
On a Level 2 home
wallbox at 11.5 kW, a full charge takes approximately 15 hours for the 170 kWh
Elevation and 18 hours for the larger 205 kWh AT4 or Denali. At DEWA's
residential rate of AED 0.23/kWh, a full charge of the Elevation costs
approximately AED 39. In Abu Dhabi at the expatriate rate of AED 0.27/kWh, the
cost is approximately AED 46. Villa owners with overnight charging will start
each day near 100%.
Public Fast Charging
The AT4 and Denali
support up to 350 kW DC fast charging, adding approximately 190 km of range in
10 minutes. The Elevation peaks at 300 kW. A 10–80% DC session completes in
roughly 30–35 minutes. The Sierra EV uses a CCS1 port — a CCS1-to-CCS2 adapter
is essential for UAE networks including DEWA Green Charger, E2GO (ADNOC/TAQA),
Tesla Supercharger, UAEV, and GreenParking.

GMC Sierra EV — Battery & Charging
Cabin Comfort
The Sierra EV seats
five in a crew-cab configuration. The Denali trim wraps the cabin in premium
leather with heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a
panoramic fixed glass roof. The AT4 focuses on rugged functionality with durable
materials suited to outdoor use. Rear-seat legroom is generous for a full-size
pickup.
Driver Comfort
A 16.8-inch diagonal
premium infotainment screen dominates the centre stack, paired with an 11-inch
digital driver display. The Denali adds a 14-inch colour head-up display. Air
Ride Adaptive Suspension is standard on the Denali, providing adjustable ride
height for comfort or ground clearance.
AC Performance
The dual-zone
automatic climate system draws from the battery, but the massive pack capacity
means minimal range impact. Pre-conditioning via the myGMC app allows remote
cabin cooling before departure. The Denali's ventilated seats and panoramic
roof tinting reduce heat soak during peak summer months.
Luggage
The 1,793 mm bed
accommodates standard cargo, but the optional MultiPro Midgate extends the load
floor to 3,302 mm by folding down the rear cabin bulkhead. The power-operated
eTrunk under the bonnet provides 311 litres of secure, weatherproof storage. The
six-function MultiPro Tailgate offers a built-in step, an inner gate for tall
items, and a load-stop position.
Infotainment
The 16.8-inch
touchscreen runs Google built-in, providing native Google Maps navigation,
Google Assistant voice commands, and Google Play app access. Wireless Apple
CarPlay and Android Auto are supported. The system does not currently offer
Arabic language support for its native interface — buyers should confirm
language settings at the time of purchase.
Safety
Eight airbags
including dual-stage frontal, seat-mounted side-impact, and overhead curtain
protection are standard. The ADAS suite includes adaptive cruise control, AEB
with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear
cross-traffic alert, and HD Surround Vision with up to 14 camera views. Super
Cruise hands-free highway driving is available on the AT4 and Denali.
How Does it Drive?
The dual-motor e4WD
system provides immediate torque delivery with near-silent cruising. Despite
tipping the scales at approximately 4,100 kg, the Sierra EV feels surprisingly
composed thanks to the floor-mounted battery pack lowering the centre of gravity.
Regenerative braking is adjustable via steering-wheel paddles, and one-pedal
driving brings the truck to a complete stop.
Performance
The Denali's 754 hp
and 1,064 Nm deliver a 0–100 km/h time of approximately 4.5 seconds —
extraordinary for a full-size pickup. The Elevation manages ~4.9 seconds with
510 hp, and the AT4 splits the difference at ~4.7 seconds with 650 hp. A Watts
to Freedom-style launch mode is available, priming the suspension and
powertrain for maximum acceleration.
Braking
Four-wheel disc
brakes with regenerative braking handle deceleration duties. The Regen on
Demand paddles allow the driver to modulate energy recovery intensity. Given
the 4,100 kg kerb weight, brake inspection at scheduled service intervals is
recommended.
Autopilot
GM's Super Cruise
provides hands-free driving on mapped motorways using a driver-facing camera,
precision lidar map data, and adaptive cruise control. The system is among the
most capable Level 2+ systems available. It is standard on the Denali, available
on the AT4, and optional on the Elevation.
Handling
Four-wheel steering
with CrabWalk is standard on the AT4 and available on the Denali, reducing the
turning circle significantly — an advantage in tight UAE car parks and U-turn
manoeuvres. The rear wheels can turn up to 10 degrees, and in CrabWalk mode, the
truck moves diagonally at low speed for precise parking or off-road navigation.
Ride
The Denali's Air
Ride Adaptive Suspension provides the smoothest ride quality, automatically
adjusting damping rates for motorway comfort. The AT4 uses a coil-spring setup
with an additional 50 mm of ground clearance over the standard model. All
variants absorb UAE speed bumps effectively thanks to the Ultium platform's
rigid structure.
Off-Road
The AT4 trim is
purpose-built for off-road use, equipped with 35-inch all-terrain tyres,
underbody armour, front and rear eLocker virtual differentials, and heavy-duty
ball-spline half shafts. Terrain Mode with one-pedal drive simplifies low-speed
off-road driving. The Elevation and Denali are primarily road-focused but
handle graded desert tracks competently.
Warranty and After-Sales
Al Ghandi Auto
provides a 5-year/100,000 km new vehicle limited warranty and an 8-year/160,000
km EV propulsion battery warranty. Roadside assistance is included for 5 years.
The Denali trim includes 5 years of complimentary scheduled maintenance. Al Ghandi
operates service centres in Dubai and Sharjah with EV-trained technicians and
GM diagnostic equipment.
Grey Import vs Official Dealer
Grey-imported
US-spec units may arrive earlier but lack local warranty coverage, CCS1-to-CCS2
adapter provision, and local service support. Insurance loading is 15–25% above
standard; some insurers decline grey-import electric pickups entirely.
Government incentives — free Salik TAG, green parking bays (4hr limit), reduced
registration fees — apply to official agency vehicles only. The Sierra EV's
high-voltage Ultium system requires GM-certified tooling inaccessible to grey
import owners through Al Ghandi's network.
Cost of Ownership
At AED 213,000 for
the Elevation, the Sierra EV undercuts the Hummer EV SUV by a substantial
margin whilst offering greater range and practicality. For a villa-based buyer
covering 20,000 km per year with home charging at DEWA's rate of AED 0.23/kWh,
annual electricity cost is estimated at AED 2,800–3,200. Public DC fast
charging at AED 0.90–1.10/kWh is significantly more expensive but used less
frequently by owners with home wallboxes.
Insurance premiums
are expected to fall in the comprehensive luxury bracket, estimated at AED
8,000–15,000 annually depending on trim and driver profile. EV-specific
maintenance is minimal — no engine oil, no spark plugs, no transmission fluid —
but brake and suspension inspections are important given the 4,100 kg kerb
weight. Tyre replacement for the AT4's 35-inch all-terrain rubber will cost
notably more than the Elevation's standard 18-inch wheels.
Depreciation is a
meaningful risk. Full-size electric pickups remain a niche segment in the UAE,
and resale values are unproven. Buyers should factor potential 30–40% value
loss over three years, though the Al Ghandi dealer network and growing EV
infrastructure may moderate this. Government incentives including the free
Salik TAG (toll charges of AED 4–6 per gate still apply), green parking bay
access with a four-hour session limit, and reduced RTA registration fees
partially offset running costs.
