2025 Hyptec HT Review UAE
Battery Spec
The UAE-spec Hyptec
HT runs an 82.5–83 kWh battery pack on the 800-volt AEP 3.0 architecture. GAC
has not disclosed cell chemistry for the UAE variant, though international
models use NMC cells at this capacity. Claimed WLTP range is approximately 520
km, with a CLTC figure of 670 km. Both Premium and Ultra share the same battery
and motor configuration.
Real-World Range
UAE summer
conditions — sustained AC at 45°C and highway speeds of 120–140 km/h — reduce
WLTP figures by 15–25%. Realistic range sits between 390 and 440 km in cooler
months, dropping to 360–400 km in peak summer. City-cycle driving recovers
closer to the upper estimate. The coupe roofline aids aerodynamic efficiency
relative to taller SUV profiles, partially offsetting heat-related losses.
Home Charging
The onboard AC
charger accepts up to 11 kW via Type 2, delivering a full 0–100% charge in
approximately eight to nine hours on a standard villa wall box. At DEWA's
residential rate of AED 0.23/kWh, a full charge costs approximately AED 19.10.
In Abu Dhabi at the expatriate rate of AED 0.27/kWh, the cost rises to
approximately AED 22.40.
Public Fast Charging
The 800-volt
architecture supports DC fast charging at up to 280 kW via CCS2, recovering
10–80% in approximately 15 minutes — among the fastest in the UAE market at
this price. Compatible networks include DEWA Green Charger, E2GO (including the
E11 Saih Shuaib hub), UAEV across the Northern Emirates, and GreenParking. The
Hyptec HT is not currently compatible with the Tesla Supercharger network.

Hyptec HT — Battery & Charging
Cabin Comfort
Nappa leather covers
all seating surfaces. Front seats are 12-way electrically adjustable with
heating, ventilation, and massage. Rear passengers benefit from reclining
seatbacks and fold-down trays — a nod to chauffeur-driven use in the UAE. The
Ultra trim's gull-wing rear doors widen the aperture for rear access, though
ground clearance for the door arc requires an open parking bay.
Driver Comfort
The driving position
sits lower than conventional SUVs due to the coupe roofline, offering a
sportier feel. The steering column adjusts for rake and reach. The 10.25-inch
digital cluster is legible in direct sunlight, and the head-up display projects
speed and navigation data onto the windscreen. Double-layer soundproof glass
reduces road noise at motorway speeds.
AC Performance
Dual-zone automatic
climate control is standard. The Air Butler Plus system includes a PM2.5
particulate sensor, CO₂ monitoring, and an integrated cabin fragrance diffuser
— unusual at this price point. Ventilated front seats assist cooling in
stop-start traffic. Remote pre-cooling via the GAC mobile app is available.
UV-tinting of the panoramic sunroof is advisable given the UAE's solar load;
the factory-fitted electric sunshade provides partial mitigation.
Luggage
Boot capacity is 670
litres with rear seats upright — competitive with the Tesla Model Y and larger
than the BMW iX xDrive40. The 800-volt platform's flat floor permits a usable
under-boot storage well. No frunk is offered; the front compartment houses the
motor and cooling hardware.
Infotainment
A 14.6-inch central
touchscreen handles navigation, media, and vehicle settings. Wireless Apple
CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. Arabic language support for the
infotainment system has been confirmed for the UAE-spec model. The 22-speaker
Dolby Atmos 7.1.2 surround system is a segment standout. A wireless charging
pad is fitted to both trims. Over-the-air updates are supported.
Safety
Seven airbags
including curtain protection are standard. The ADAS suite includes adaptive
cruise control, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and a 360-degree
surround camera. GAC references "submarine-grade" high-strength steel
in the body structure. Euro NCAP testing for the Hyptec HT has not been
published at the time of writing.
How Does it Drive?
The rear-wheel-drive
layout and low centre of gravity from the floor-mounted battery deliver a
composed, rear-biased driving feel unusual for an SUV. Visibility forward is
strong through the wide windscreen; the coupe roofline narrows the rear view,
making the 360-degree camera a practical necessity when reversing.
Performance
The 0–100 km/h
sprint in 5.8 seconds is brisk for a single-motor SUV weighing 2,280 kg.
Overtaking at highway speeds is confident, and the 250 kW motor delivers linear
torque delivery without sudden spikes. Wind noise at 120 km/h is well
controlled, aided by the sloping roofline and double-layer glass. Top speed is
electronically limited to 183 km/h.
Braking
Regenerative braking
is standard with adjustable intensity. One-pedal driving is available for urban
use. The combination of ventilated rear and solid front discs provides adequate
stopping power, though the brake setup is less aggressive than some European
competitors at this price.
Autopilot
Adaptive cruise
control with stop-and-go functions across UAE motorways. Lane departure warning
alerts the driver but does not actively centre the vehicle. No Level 2+
autonomous driving system is offered on the current UAE-spec model — a notable
omission against rivals offering highway lane-centring.
Handling
The 2,935 mm
wheelbase provides stability at speed, while the rear-drive layout enables a
tighter turning circle than equivalent AWD platforms. Multi-storey car park
access is straightforward with 1,700 mm height — below the standard 2.1 m
barrier. The 360-degree camera and electric power steering assist low-speed
manoeuvring in Dubai mall car parks.
Ride
McPherson strut
front and torsion beam rear suspension delivers a comfort-biased ride over the
UAE's predominantly smooth urban surfaces. The 150 mm ground clearance is lower
than crossover norms, making speed bumps a consideration. Passenger comfort at motorway
cruise is composed, with the battery mass dampening high-frequency vibrations
effectively.
Warranty and After-Sales
Gargash Motors, one
of the UAE's most established automotive groups, distributes the Hyptec HT
alongside GAC's broader portfolio. The battery warranty is eight years —
competitive with industry standards. Vehicle warranty details are expected to
be five years, though Gargash has not formally published the full terms at the
time of writing. Service centres are located in Al Quoz and Deira (Dubai).
Parts availability for a first-generation model from a new brand carries
inherent risk; Gargash's logistics infrastructure partially mitigates this
concern.
Grey Import vs Official Dealer
Grey import Hyptec
HT units sourced from China lack UAE-specific software calibration, Arabic
navigation, and thermal management tuning for Gulf ambient temperatures.
Insurance loading is typically 15–25% above official channel rates; some
insurers decline cover for unregistered Chinese EV brands entirely. Government
incentives — free Salik tag, green parking bays, reduced registration fees —
apply exclusively to official agency vehicles. The 800-volt electrical
architecture requires manufacturer-certified diagnostic tooling unavailable
outside the Gargash network.
Cost of Ownership
At AED 177,900, the
Hyptec HT undercuts the Tesla Model Y Long Range and sits well below European
electric SUVs. For a buyer covering 20,000 km per year with a home wall box,
annual electricity cost is estimated at AED 1,400–1,700 (DEWA rate), versus AED
8,000–12,000 for a comparable petrol SUV. Annual energy savings are estimated
at AED 6,000–10,000.
Insurance estimates
through official UAE channels range from AED 7,000 to AED 10,000 annually. EV
servicing costs are lower than ICE equivalents — estimated at AED 1,500–2,500
per year for the Hyptec HT. Government incentives include a free Salik tag (toll
charges of AED 4–6 per gate still apply), green parking bay access with a
four-hour session limit, and reduced RTA registration fees.
Depreciation risk is
elevated. The Hyptec brand has no UAE resale history, and first-generation
models from new Chinese premium brands historically face 35–45% depreciation
over three years. Gargash's established reputation provides some reassurance,
but buyers should budget conservatively for residual value. NMC battery
chemistry on the 800-volt platform is well-proven for longevity, which may
support long-term ownership economics even if resale values are initially
uncertain.
