2025 Exeed RX PHEV Review UAE
Battery Spec
The Luxury FWD
variant carries a 19.27 kWh CATL battery pack using M3P (manganese-rich lithium
iron phosphate) chemistry, offering improved energy density over standard LFP
while retaining strong thermal stability. The Presidential AWD variant upgrades
to a 35.4 kWh pack for extended electric running. A 1.5-litre turbocharged
four-cylinder engine producing 154 hp acts as both a range extender and
direct-drive source through a 3-speed DHT gearbox rated at 97.6% efficiency.
Real-World Range
WLTP electric-only
range is approximately 80 km for the FWD and 150 km for the AWD. In UAE summer
conditions with full AC load, expect a 15–25% reduction — yielding 60–68 km
(FWD) and 115–130 km (AWD) in practice. Combined range with the 70-litre fuel
tank exceeds 1,300 km, making the RX PHEV a genuine long-distance tourer
without range anxiety.
Home Charging
The RX PHEV charges
at 6.6 kW via Type 2 AC, completing a full charge in approximately three hours
for the 19.27 kWh pack. At DEWA's residential rate of AED 0.23/kWh, a full
charge costs approximately AED 4.43. In Abu Dhabi at the expatriate rate of AED
0.27/kWh, the cost is approximately AED 5.20. For daily commutes under 60 km,
most owners will charge overnight and drive purely on electricity.
Public Fast Charging
DC fast charging at
up to 74 kW CCS2 charges the smaller battery from 10% to 80% in approximately
20 minutes. Compatible UAE networks: DEWA Green Charger, E2GO (ADNOC/TAQA),
UAEV, and GreenParking. The 74 kW peak rate is competitive for a PHEV and means
that even on a road trip, a rapid top-up adds meaningful electric range.

Exeed RX PHEV — Battery & Charging
Cabin Comfort
The RX PHEV's cabin
presents well above its price point. Nappa leather upholstery, quilted
stitching, and brushed aluminium trim create a genuinely premium feel. The
64-colour ambient lighting system pulses in time with music across three modes.
The front seats are electrically adjustable with ventilation, heating, and
massage functions. Rear legroom is generous for a D-segment SUV, with reclining
rear backrests and heated outboard seats.
Driver Comfort
Forward visibility
is excellent from the elevated driving position. The 24.6-inch curved
dual-screen display spans the dashboard, combining a 12.3-inch digital
instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch central infotainment screen in a single
integrated panel. A full-colour windshield head-up display projects speed and
navigation data. Steering column adjusts for both rake and reach.
AC Performance
Dual-zone automatic
climate control cools the cabin from UAE summer peaks within five to seven
minutes. Remote pre-cooling via the Exeed app is standard. Ventilated front
seats are essential in stop-start traffic; rear passengers benefit from
dedicated air vents with temperature control. The panoramic sunroof includes a
powered sunblind to manage solar load.
Luggage
Boot space is a
generous 660 litres with rear seats upright, expanding to 1,783 litres with
seats folded — class-leading for a D-segment SUV. The powered tailgate opens
hands-free via foot sensor. The flat boot floor and wide opening accommodate
pushchairs, luggage sets, and weekly shopping without difficulty.
Infotainment
The 24.6-inch curved
dual-screen is the cabin's centrepiece, running a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155
chipset for responsive input. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are
standard. Arabic language support covers both the user interface and voice
commands — an important consideration for the UAE market. A 14-speaker Sony
audio system with two headrest speakers and three listening modes (shared,
driver, private) provides immersive sound quality. A 50-watt wireless charging
pad, dual USB-C ports, and rear-seat USB ports are all included.
Safety
Eight airbags
including front, side, curtain, and driver knee protection are standard across
both variants. The ADAS suite covers autonomous emergency braking, lane
departure warning, lane change assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear
cross-traffic alert, and a 540-degree surround camera system. Adaptive cruise
with stop-and-go is standard. ESP, roll stability control, and brake override
are fitted.
How Does it Drive?
In pure electric
mode, the RX PHEV is whisper-quiet and responsive from standstill — ideal for
urban commuting and school runs. The transition between electric and
petrol-assist modes is smooth under moderate throttle, managed by the 3-speed
DHT gearbox. At motorway speeds, the petrol engine engages seamlessly when
additional power is required.
Performance
The Luxury FWD
variant completes the 0–100 km/h sprint in 7.6 seconds — adequate for daily
driving and confident motorway merges. The Presidential AWD is a different
proposition entirely: 596 hp and 4.9 seconds to 100 km/h places it firmly in
performance SUV territory, rivalling vehicles costing twice the price.
Braking
Regenerative braking
is available with adjustable intensity. The system recovers energy effectively
during urban stop-start driving, extending electric range in practice.
Hydraulic brake feel is consistent across driving modes, with adequate pedal
feedback for confident stopping from motorway speeds.
Autopilot
Adaptive cruise with
stop-and-go functions reliably on well-marked UAE motorways such as Sheikh
Zayed Road and the E11. Lane centring performs competently on clearly painted
lanes but occasionally requests driver input on older Northern Emirates roads.
No Level 3 autonomous capability is offered.
Handling
The Luxury FWD
variant handles with composure through motorway curves and roundabouts, with
well-controlled body roll for a vehicle of this size. The Presidential AWD adds
a rear electric motor for improved traction and cornering balance, particularly
beneficial in wet conditions or on sandy road shoulders common in the UAE.
Ride
CDC electromagnetic
damping with Hydraulic Damping Struts adjusts in milliseconds across three
modes, delivering a refined ride over the UAE's predominantly smooth urban
roads. Speed bumps and undulating surfaces are absorbed without harshness, and
Michelin silent tyres combined with acoustic glass keep cabin noise suppressed.
Rear passengers are afforded a comfortable ride — important for the
family-oriented target buyer.
Off-Road
Seven driving modes
are available — Economic, Standard, Sports, Snow, Mud, Sand, and Off-Road —
accessible via the touchscreen. Ground clearance is 187 mm. The Presidential
AWD variant with intelligent torque split (0–90% front, 10–100% rear) is suited
to graded desert tracks and wadi access roads. The FWD Luxury variant is not
intended for off-road driving beyond well-maintained gravel roads.
Warranty and After-Sales
Al Ghurair Motors
distributes the Exeed brand in the UAE with showrooms in Dubai (Gold Diamond
Park, Al Khabaisi), Abu Dhabi (Corniche Street, Al Khalidiyah), and Ras Al
Khaimah. The warranty package is among the strongest in the segment: seven
years or 200,000 km vehicle warranty, eight years or 160,000 km battery
warranty, seven years of complimentary servicing, and seven years of roadside
assistance. Service intervals are every 10,000 km, with PHEV maintenance
covering both the 1.5T engine and EV drivetrain components.
Grey Import vs Official Dealer
Grey import Exeed RX
PHEV units typically lack UAE-specific software calibration, Arabic navigation,
and summer thermal management routines. Insurance loading is 15–25% above
standard; some insurers decline PHEV grey imports entirely. Government incentives
— free Salik tag, green parking bays, reduced registration fees — apply to
official agency vehicles only. The PHEV's high-voltage CATL battery system
requires brand-certified tooling inaccessible to grey import owners through Al
Ghurair's network.
Cost of Ownership
At AED 149,999, the
Exeed RX PHEV significantly undercuts European PHEV SUV alternatives such as
the Volvo XC60 Recharge and BMW X3 30e, which typically start above AED
230,000. For a buyer covering 20,000 km per year with a home wall box, annual
electricity cost for the electric-mode commuting portion is estimated under AED
1,200, versus AED 7,000–10,000 for a petrol equivalent of similar size.
Insurance estimates
through official UAE channels range from AED 7,000 to AED 11,000 annually.
Annual PHEV servicing is approximately AED 2,000–3,000. Government incentives
include a free Salik tag (toll charges of AED 4–6 per gate still apply), green
parking bay access with a four-hour session limit, and reduced RTA registration
fees.
Depreciation risk is
elevated compared to established brands. Exeed is new to the UAE market, and
resale values for the first wave of vehicles will depend heavily on Al Ghurair
Motors' ability to build brand awareness and after-sales confidence. However,
the seven-year warranty and complimentary service package provides significant
reassurance — a buyer can hold the vehicle through its highest depreciation
years fully covered. The CATL M3P battery chemistry offers strong thermal
stability in hot climates, supporting long-term mechanical reliability.
Three-year residual values are difficult to estimate but the comprehensive
warranty mitigates the financial risk significantly.
