2025 BMW i7 Review UAE
Battery Spec
All three i7
variants share a 105.7 kWh NMC prismatic battery pack (101.7 kWh usable),
mounted in a flat floor configuration. The 400V architecture delivers energy to
either one motor (eDrive50, RWD) or two motors (xDrive60 and M70, AWD). The
eDrive50 produces 455 hp and 650 Nm, the xDrive60 raises output to 544 hp and
745 Nm, while the M70 flagship delivers 660 hp and 1,100 Nm of overboost
torque.
Real-World Range
WLTP figures stand
at 610 km (eDrive50), 625 km (xDrive60), and 560 km (M70). Applying DriveEV's
standard 20% UAE summer deduction for sustained air-conditioning and highway
speeds, real-world range falls to approximately 490 km, 500 km, and 450 km
respectively. Even the M70's reduced range comfortably covers a return Abu
Dhabi–Dubai commute with margin to spare.
Home Charging
The eDrive50 and
xDrive60 charge at 11 kW via Type 2 AC as standard, completing a full charge in
approximately 10.5 hours on a villa wall box. The M70 comes with 22 kW AC
standard, halving charge time to around 5.5 hours. At DEWA's residential rate
of AED 0.23/kWh, a full charge costs approximately AED 23.40. In Abu Dhabi at
the expatriate rate of AED 0.27/kWh, the cost rises to approximately AED 27.50.
Public Fast Charging
DC fast charging
peaks at 200 kW via CCS2, bringing the battery from 10–80% in approximately 34
minutes. Compatible UAE networks include DEWA Green Charger, E2GO (ADNOC/TAQA),
Tesla Supercharger, UAEV, and GreenParking. A DC session from 10–80% costs roughly
AED 16–19 at public rates — remarkably inexpensive for a vehicle of this class.
2025
BMW i7 — Battery & Charging
Cabin Comfort
The i7's cabin is
lined with extended Merino leather, open-pore wood, and crystalline controls.
The Executive Lounge option on xDrive60 and M70 offers powered rear seats with
massage, ventilation, and up to 42.5 degrees of recline. The optional 31.3-inch
Theatre Screen folds down from the headliner for rear passengers, offering
Amazon Fire TV, streaming, and gaming through built-in 5G connectivity.
Driver Comfort
The BMW Curved
Display merges a 12.3-inch instrument cluster with a 14.9-inch central
touchscreen running iDrive 8. A colour head-up display projects speed,
navigation, and ADAS data onto the windscreen. The driver's seat offers 20-way
power adjustment with memory, ventilation, and massage. Steering column adjusts
for both rake and reach electrically.
AC Performance
Four-zone automatic
climate control is standard across all variants. Remote pre-conditioning via
the My BMW app allows cabin cooling before departure — essential during UAE
summer months where interior temperatures exceed 55°C. Ventilated front and
rear seats (xDrive60/M70) dissipate heat effectively in stop-start traffic. The
panoramic glass roof features electrochromic dimming to manage solar load.
Luggage
Boot space stands at
500 litres — adequate for a flagship sedan, though smaller than some
competitors. The powered tailgate opens and closes via gesture, key fob, or
dashboard button. No frunk is available; the front section houses the electric
motor and 400V power electronics. Rear seats fold in a 40:20:40 split for
extended cargo length.
Infotainment
BMW's iDrive 8 runs
on BMW Operating System 8 and supports full Arabic language menus and voice
commands — an important differentiator in the UAE. Wireless Apple CarPlay and
Android Auto are standard. Over-the-air updates keep the system current. BMW
Digital Key Plus allows smartphone-based unlocking via Ultra-Wideband. The
eDrive50 comes with Harman Kardon (18 speakers); the M70 upgrades to Bowers
& Wilkins Diamond Surround (36 speakers, 1,965 W).
Safety
Driving Assistant
Professional is standard, covering adaptive cruise with stop-and-go,
lane-keeping assist, and automated parking. Surround-view cameras with 3D
visualisation, front and rear parking sensors, and an attention monitor are
included. The optional Highway Assistant allows hands-free driving at up to 130
km/h on approved roads. The i7 achieved a five-star Euro NCAP rating in 2022.
How Does it Drive?
The i7 delivers
near-silent acceleration from standstill, making roundabout exits and motorway
merges effortless. Despite weighing over 2,700 kg, the low centre of gravity
from the floor-mounted battery disguises the mass well. The transition between
driving modes — Comfort, Sport, and Efficient — is well-calibrated, with Sport
sharpening throttle response and steering weight noticeably.
Performance
The eDrive50 reaches
100 km/h in 5.5 seconds — more than sufficient for UAE highway merging. The
xDrive60 cuts the sprint to 4.7 seconds with dual-motor traction, while the M70
dispatches it in 3.7 seconds flat with 1,100 Nm of overboost torque. Overtaking
at 120 km/h is decisive across all variants. All models are electronically
limited to 240 km/h (250 km/h for M70).
Braking
Regenerative braking
is adjustable through three levels via paddle shifters. The strongest setting
provides near-one-pedal driving capability in urban conditions. The M70
features an M Sport braking system with larger four-piston calipers for
additional stopping power. Brake pad wear is significantly reduced thanks to
energy recuperation, though tyre wear remains elevated due to the vehicle's
mass.
Autopilot
Adaptive cruise with
stop-and-go functions reliably on the E11 and Sheikh Zayed Road. Lane centring
performs well on clearly-marked UAE motorways. The optional Highway Assistant
enables hands-free driving at up to 130 km/h — a practical asset for the Abu
Dhabi–Dubai commute. No Level 3 autonomous capability is offered for the UAE
market at present.
Handling
Standard rear-axle
steering (up to 3.5 degrees) tightens the turning circle and improves low-speed
manoeuvrability for a 5.4-metre sedan. Adaptive air suspension with electronic
damper control comes standard across all variants. The M70 adds M-specific suspension
tuning with firmer spring rates and a more aggressive anti-roll calibration for
high-speed cornering.
Ride
The auto-levelling
air suspension soaks up Dubai's speed bumps and motorway expansion joints with
impressive composure. Highway cruising at 140 km/h is near-silent, with minimal
wind and road noise penetrating the cabin. Ride quality ranks among the best in
the luxury EV segment, with only the Mercedes-Benz EQS offering a comparable
level of isolation.
Warranty and After-Sales
AGMC covers the i7
with a five-year or 200,000 km vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 160,000 km
battery warranty — competitive for the luxury EV segment. BMW-certified
high-voltage technicians are established at AGMC Dubai and Abu Dhabi Motors
service centres. BMW Service Inclusive packages can be bundled at purchase.
BMW's Condition-Based Servicing monitors component wear and schedules service
intervals at approximately 30,000 km or 24 months.
Grey Import vs Official Dealer
Grey import i7 units
may lack UAE-specification calibration, including regional charging protocols
and summer heat-management tuning. Insurance loading is 15–25% above standard;
some insurers decline luxury EV grey imports entirely. Government incentives —
free Salik TAG (toll charges of AED 4–6 per gate still apply), green parking
bay access with a four-hour session limit, and reduced RTA registration fees —
apply to official agency vehicles only. Software updates and BMW ConnectedDrive
services may also be restricted on non-GCC units.
Cost of Ownership
At DEWA's AED
0.23/kWh rate, a full home charge of the i7's 101.7 kWh usable battery costs
approximately AED 23.40. Per 100 km, energy cost works out to around AED
3.60–4.10 depending on driving style — a fraction of what an equivalent
V8-powered 7 Series would consume. Villa owners with 22 kW wallboxes can fully
charge overnight in under six hours, while apartment residents with 7 kW
outlets face a roughly 15-hour session best managed during off-peak hours.
Insurance estimates
through official UAE channels range from AED 28,000 to AED 45,000 annually
depending on variant and driver profile. Annual servicing is approximately AED
4,000–6,000 through AGMC. Government incentives include a free Salik TAG (toll
charges still apply), green parking bay access with a four-hour session limit,
and reduced RTA registration fees. The i7's 2,715 kg kerb weight accelerates
tyre wear — budget for premium tyre replacements every 25,000–30,000 km.
Depreciation risk is
moderate to high. Luxury EVs in the UAE typically face steeper initial
depreciation than ICE counterparts, though BMW's established dealer network and
brand equity provide a stronger residual floor than lesser-known electric
brands. The 8-year battery warranty offers transferable peace of mind.
Three-year resale is estimated at 45–55% of purchase price — below equivalent
ICE 7 Series figures but competitive within the luxury EV segment.

BMW i7 — Standard Equipment
2025 BMW i7 — Final Verdict
The BMW i7 succeeds
in translating the 7 Series' decades of luxury pedigree into a compelling
electric package. The xDrive60 represents the sweet spot of the range — 625 km
of WLTP range, dual-motor traction, and the Theatre Screen rear entertainment
system make it the most complete luxury EV sedan available in the UAE today.
The M70 caters to performance enthusiasts who want supercar acceleration in a
chauffeur-worthy body, while the eDrive50 offers a surprisingly complete
experience at a relative bargain within the lineup.
At AED
540,000–785,941, the i7 competes directly with the Mercedes-Benz EQS (AED
605,000+) and undercuts the Porsche Taycan Turbo S. Its 200 kW charging,
extensive standard equipment, and AGMC's established UAE service network make
ownership straightforward. For discerning UAE buyers who want the ultimate
electric luxury sedan with established German engineering, the i7 makes a
powerful and persuasive case.
